HB 1313 | ND State Capitol | Wednesday at 9:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Nonpartisan Leaguer RepresentativeRuth Buffalo for North Dakota has introduced a bill to include data on missing and murdered indigenous people. This is a very important bill for ND. Indigenous people go missing here at a much higher rate than any other group of people.
Please consider attending the committee hearing meeting. Bring written testimony! Bring your spoke testimony! Or just bring your support! It is important to write your legislative district’s representatives if you cannot make the meeting on Wednesday morning.

Missing and murdered indigenous people are missing. However, we do not know the numbers of how many are missing as data is not collected on these people. Olivia Lone Bear was missing and it was not alerted for over a week, amongst off reservation agencies, despite searches going on. Olivia was found roughly 9 months later. The suffering this family has might not have changed the outcome of finding Olivia, but to know that she was missing in a timely manner might have helped eliminate other possible scenarios. This bill is important and needs to be passed. Thank you!
